OUR HISTORY

Team LaS’port was founded in 1983, making it the second oldest competitive bicycle racing organization in Louisiana. Of the original founders, Larry Thompson, Tim Fitzgerald, and Butch Jordan were voted as life members in 2005.

Kathleen Weiner – Women’s 30-34 Time Trial, 1999

Shannon Koch – Women’s 17-18 Road Race & Time Trial, 2005; USA Junior National Team, 2005

Matt Davis – Men’s 30-34 Road Race, 2009

Mary Jimenez- Masters Road Race and Criterium 2017; Masters Road Race and Criterium, 2022; Women’s 60-64 Gravel, 2023

Shannon Koch – Rock Racing; Bike-Import.ch (Belgium)

Logan McLain – Tirol-KTM; UCI continental team based in Innsbruck, Austria.

Michael Simpson raced junior events in Italy for two summers.

Russ Walker has won the Hotter’n’Hell Hundred Pro-1-2 road race three times. The first win, in 2005, included Russ gapping then-national criterium champion Brad Huff with about 5 kilometers to go. The second, in 2006, capped a good day for Team LaS’port with Walker winning the Pro-1-2’s, Patrick Marr taking the Category 3 win, and Scott Gurganus finishing a wheel-back second in the Category 4’s.
